DUMPLING (2018)

ABOUT THE PROJECT:​​

Dumpling is a grant-funded narrative short based the director's lived experience of moving from China to a majority-white American town at fourteen years old. It takes place in a high school cafeteria on Xiao Xing's first day of school after the move. Currently in post-production, Dumpling blends traditional narrative with magic realism to reflect on the struggle to belong. 

An accompanying documentary short chronicles Xiaolu, Simone, and Dumpling DP Tahiel Jimenez as the three journey to

Xiaolu's old high school in Rapid City, South Dakota in search of healing. Shot April 2018 (currently in post-production).

After 3 successful seasons, the hilarious web series Theater People was funded $50k to produce its fourth season for a brand new independent viewing platform, Seeka TV. Season 4 is now available for free online viewing on Seeka TV as of June 5, 2017.

IF MEMORY SERVES (2016)

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The film was shot in fall 2014 and had an early premiere with live organ accompaniment at the 2015 Fargo Film Festival. In summer 2016 Andy McCormick finished composing and recording the original score, officially completing the film.
